Baptism FAQs
Some frequently asked questions when it comes to baptism.
-
When you become a follower of Jesus, you should be baptized!
Through baptism, we follow Christ’s example (Matthew 3:13-15), we obey His command (Matthew 28:19-20), and we show that we are a believer (Acts 2:38).
-
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your savior, you are saved!
We are saved through faith in Jesus, not through water baptism (John 3:16; John 5:24; John 10:28; Romans 10:9, 13; 1 John 5:13).
-
Baptism is like putting on the “jersey” for Team Jesus! You’re letting everyone know what team you’re on!
For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. (Romans 6:4).
For Christians, baptism is a symbolic act of obedience about our public identification with Jesus because of what He has done in us and for us.
Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward reality. When you know that Jesus has changed your life on the inside, you follow in this outward sign of public identification with Him.
Baptism also connects us to the “Body of Christ,” or His church / family.
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (2 Corinthians 5:17).

We typically baptize by immersion, the same way Jesus was baptized (Matthew 3:16), and the way we see it repeated throughout scripture (Acts 8:38, 39).
We are also considerate of those who cannot be immersed due to physical limitations, but we encourage following the example of Jesus whenever possible.
-
There was no class in the Bible for baptism! We do however offer a class simply as a safe place to ask questions and gain clarity on this subject.
When you fill out the baptism form, we’ll work with you for whatever fits your schedule.
-
We are to be baptized as soon as we believe in Jesus (Acts 2:41).
You should be baptized at the next opportunity made available to you (Acts 8:35-39).
36 As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?” 38 He ordered the carriage to stop, and they went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.
39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away. The eunuch never saw him again but went on his way rejoicing.
(Acts 8:36-39).

We recommend that you be baptized again if you have not been baptized by immersion since you became a believer.
This doesn’t devalue a prior experience or dedication as an infant, but instead simply reflects your desire to be baptized as a believer according to Jesus’ command.
We view this as a fulfillment of your previous experience that should be celebrated!
-
If you’ve been baptized in the past, there is no need to be baptized again.
However, there’s nothing wrong with being re-baptized as a recommitment of your devotion to Jesus.

Typically once or twice a year during the summer. We’ve held baptisms at the beach as well as at our church.
