December 22 | Personal Opportunity
Hebrews 1:1-5 (NLT)
Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. 2 And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. 3 The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. 4 This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels, just as the name God gave him is greater than their names.
5 For God never said to any angel what he said to Jesus:
“You are my Son.
Today I have become your Father.”
God also said,
“I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son.”
Joy to the world, Jesus is ALIVE. We are so abundantly blessed to have a God that is living and active. Through Jesus, each and every one of us has an opportunity to have a deep and personal relationship with the God of the universe; how incredible is that?! We have an amazing opportunity with Jesus, where we can know our own God on a personal level. We do not have to rely on the stories of others, or experiences of the "Bible Characters" to learn about God, but instead, God gave us the opportunity to know Him personally through Christ Jesus.
This Christmas season, I urge you to spend some extra time thanking Jesus for His sacrifice. Jesus, the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, who upholds the universe by the word of His power chose to die for you and you alone. Christ did not choose to come to earth, to form relationships and to save all of humanity; He did it for you. And He would do it again if it was only for you.
Christmas is where we celebrate the beginning of the sacrifice of Jesus. We see Jesus’s sacrifice lived out through the Easter season, but that began with His birth. Jesus came to this earth, as a human, fully knowing what the end result and sacrifice would be, and He would do it again and again and again just for you. Let’s take some time today to truly praise Jesus for WHO He is, His goodness, His love, and His unimaginable sacrifice for us, and use that thankfulness to grow closer to Him and to the Father.
