Day 10: Praise
Praise him, sun and moon!
Praise him, all you twinkling stars!
Praise him, skies above!
Praise him, vapors high above the clouds!
Let every created thing give praise to the Lord,
for he issued his command, and they came into being.
Psalm 148:3-5 (NLT)
Following the example of David and the scriptures, when we feel at a loss for words, simply looking at the beauty around us in nature reminds us of the majesty of God. Seeing the magnificence of nature can help us with adoration, or worship.
Today, use your own words to worship God. Describe God’s qualities out loud.
Follow the ACTS Prayer model, but use the nature around you to describe God’s attributes. It might feel awkward, but don’t let that hinder your prayer time.
What qualities do you see in the trees around you? The bushes, leaves, and plants? What about the sky, the clouds, the weather, the mountains, the ocean, or the breeze? In what ways can you liken their characteristics to the attributes of God? Use these as a means for increasing your vocabulary in worship.
Consider His power, majesty, glory, holiness, beauty, genius, perfection, creativity, sovereignty, compassion, grace, or any other attributes that come to mind.
“You are worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased.”
Revelation 4:11 (NLT)
