11/06/22 | ”Unshakable” // Rev. Andrew Colón

11/06/22 | We are so privileged to have Rev. Andrew Colón here with us for our Homecoming Weekend! Andrew preaches a timely message on how our faith can make us unshakable. Reading from Jesus’ words in Luke 6 about obeying His teachings, Andrew shows us how our faith can be unshakable:

1. Listen & Act

2. Dig Deep

3. Expect the Storm

4. Stand Firm

Deconstruction of Faith Seminar

In this seminar, Rev. Andrew Colón teaches on the topic of Deconstruction of Faith. As people sort through the faith they inherited and connect over stories of deconstruction, Andrew offers some sobering insight into this topic and what we can do it about it.

SESSION 1

In Session 1, Andrew goes over recent statistics concerning Christianity in America, both pre and post Covid, and what the implications are. Some highlights of what he talked about:

People are looking for:

  • Purpose

  • Community

  • Meaning

  • Ritual & daily practices

In Session 2, Andrew will break down more of what this means for us and what we can do about it.

SESSION 2

In Session 2, Andrew talks about how we need to teach evaluation skills and critical thinking, how to engage with many ideas that will come our way. These are adjustments we can make in regards to this topic:

  • Take our time

  • Leverage the internet carefully

  • Focus on discipleship

  • Create spaces for people to ask questions

  • Create deep community

  • Provide volunteer opportunities that provide rich purpose

He says that Pentecostalism is perfectly poised to engage this topic as we approach others in conversation being led by God's Spirit. Jesus' mode of ministry was the 1, the 3, the 12, and the masses.
