12/12 - Carols | 3. “Away In A Manger”

12/12/21 God is with us – in answered promises, realized dreams, and refreshed hope. How could we help but sing? This December, we're exploring the songs born from our joy that Christ has entered the world.

In Week 3, Pastor Matt focuses on a line, “the little Lord Jesus” in the famous children’s carol, “Away In A Manger.” While sometimes the meaning of the manger can feel cute, childish, or ambiguous, we see from scripture that from the moment of his birth, Jesus is Lord (Luke 2:11). Pastor Matt unpacks what this means for us:

The manger is about mission (Matt. 1:21-23)

The manger is about humility (Phil. 2:5-11)

The manger is about life-service, not lip-service (Matt. 7:21-23)

When I surrender to the Lordship of Christ, I experience joy, peace & purpose (John 10:10).
