02/05/23 | Courage: The Book of Esther // 1. “The Courage of Conviction”
02/05/23 | How do we find the courage to step up when God calls us to do so? The Book of Esther serves as our guide in this series as we study the different characters in the story, how God was at work behind the scenes, and how each player in the story found the courage to step up and step out as God called them to.
In Week 1, Pastor Jeff talks about the Courage of Conviction. A “conviction” is a firmly held belief or opinion. “Conscience” is an inner feeling or voice viewed as an acting guide to the rightness or wrongness of one’s behavior. Courage is the place where conviction meets passion. Starting right in Esther 1:12, we see Queen Vashti stand with courage:
1) Vashti lived according to her conscience.
2) Vashti refused to compromise her convictions.
