Day 4: Thanksgiving
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
Psalm 100:4 (NIV)
Worshiping God is much easier once you realize how much you have to be thankful for. We can spend our prayer time listing all the things we think we still need from God, yet Psalm 23:1 reminds us that, really, we already have all that we need.
Let’s focus on giving thanks to God today. Name whatever comes to mind.
Perhaps it’s your family, or a significant person in your life. Your church community.
It can be the blessings of food and shelter.
Thank Him for forgiving you of sin, and setting you free from its power.
Thank Him for material blessings as well. Thank God for your iPhone, computer, tablet, Xbox, or Amazon Prime, it’s okay! If you enjoy it, just come to Him thanking Him for whatever He’s blessed you with.
Thank Him, praise Him, yet also tell Him how those things are just reminders of how good He is, and that those things mean nothing compared to Him. But like any loving father, your Heavenly Father loves giving them to you.
Thank you, Father!
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NIV)
